CREWE CLIMBING & POTHOLING cLUB Newsletter No.'S

Just a short note to remind you of a few things.

Firstly it is tim to renew your subscriptions. They are staying the same
as last year and they are as follows.

Full Member: £10. 00
Married Couple: £18.00
Associate: £8, 00
Junior: £9. 00

Student: £9. 00
Unwaged: By application,

These rates stand until until the end of March after which they will all
increase by £2.00 as is club practise.So it is in your interest to cough
up the dosh to John Shenton before April Fools Day.

His address is 3 Hunters Close, Biddulph, Stake-on-Trent. Alternatively you
can pay him at the next meeting on March 7th.I will be preparing a new
members list for the April meeting.

As you know the club meets on the first Monday of every month at the
Bleeding Wolf, Scholar Green, Unless it is a Bank Holiday and then we meet
on the second Monday. The meeting is traditionally the place where
information regarding club activities is announced, caving trips are
planned, people are brought up to date on current affairs and opinions
are expressed. Ve also quaff a few pints in the process.So lets see you
all there.

Now for the club events. The most important one is the clubs annual
Christmas do. This year the event is to take place on Saturday March 5th
at the Wilkes Head Public House in Leek, starting at 8.00pm. The licensees
have applied for an extension until 12, 00pm,we have some really strong
candidates for the Wally of the Year Award and Forgery will be appearing
on the bill, They are a sort of singalong lets all get drunk sort of
group. The cost for this fabulous evening of entertainment is only £3.50
and this includes a buffet to tempt even the most fastidious gourmet.

4s for caving we've been having some good turnouts for club meets. 12 or
so people turned up for Oxlow/Maskhill and about 7 people went to
Giants.

The next trips are Knotlow/Hillocks on Saturady 12th Feb and Ireby
Fell/Large Fot/Rift Fot/Marble Steps on Sunday 26th Feb. Ring either
myself, Liam Kealy, (0625 614525) or Paul Shenton<0538 756¢69)to see whose

going and to arrange transport etc.

AN ALTERNATIVE CHEST HARNESS,..by P.TON,

Chatting to one of our older members I was reminded of a simple,
cheep effective chest harness that mary of our mesbers used to use well
Defore Caving Supplies and others came on the scene with their complicated
and expensive models. You will need a piece of tapeaabout 12ft by 1/2"

(Note the units) Arrange this to fora thr

equel lenghts then tie a tape

knot at each end....Thats it !!! To fit the harness chuck one loop over your
shoulders, cross the other two putting an arm through each, The two smell

loops can be joined with a maillon which goes into the top hole of a Croll.

See...dead easy..,even you can do it...,if you cant use the diag. below.

possible dry, Never leave maillons in a tackle sack with wet ropes, NOT EVEN FOR

When borrowing lamps from Relph they are supplied charged(!!!) with a knot

tied in the cable, If you use it return it

knot in place, If a lamp needs attention (IE.doesnt work}}}
